Chemo Pics

Aargh! I have some good pictures from the last chemo session (halfway finished- can you believe it!!) but I can't seem to upload them to blogger. Even had the guts to take a few baldie shots, in case anyone wants to see my shiny new pate (really a bit too stubbly to be shiny still). Mom, Harris and Br. Robert were there as well. Harris offered me his hair for a wig, but I don't think it would work unless I had the beard as well (this would all be much funnier if I could upload those blasted pictures!!)

Wanted to start a second blog that would just be an index of other bloggers dealing with Cancer or other Incurable DIsease issues (I know there is such an index for other issues like infertility, and it seems like a great idea. You can get a different kind of encouragement from reading about other people going through the same or similar diagnosis). But there are so many! So I think I just might go through and link up the ones that I have been corresponding with on my own blog. Much more manageable that way! But I did like that brown blog background... my blog needs a facelift.

My new fear- my hair will grow in super- curly and gray, and I will look like the rear- end of a sheep. But I have been informed that one blogger had her (formerly light brown) hair grow back in black, and less gray! Chances of that happening are pretty slim, but it does give one reason to hope. And I can always dye it after about 4 months.

Your first hair-growth can be likened to "baby hair." Not that it's lovely and soft and smells so good, but more that it is a phase. Like baby hair, your "first growth" will grow out and you'll get a second growth that is your long-term hair. 13 months post my first chemo, and I've already had the texture change. Choosing to keep it short because it is SO DARN EASY!

I call that first re-growth "preliminary hair." I got that downy fuzz when I was on Taxol alone, and "real hair" after I got off the Taxol. And both previous times I had chemo, my hair came back curly! I loved it! I have heard of several people who had gray hair before chemo, and it came back in without the gray. Alas, the curl subsides, and the gray returns, but we must enjoy what we can.

Thank you for listing my blog! I am trying to see how I can list all the blogs I follow in Bloglines on my blog. It includes you, of course!

Your new hair will be absolutely beautiful.

I'm sure of it.

I've said it before and I'll say it again: your hair is beautiful and you don't need to dye it. I'm with SheShe: your new hair will be beautiful because you are beautiful. The beauty of the soul cannot help but be manifested in the body.

I knew a child dealing with bone cancer. When her strawberry blonde straight hair fell out, it was replaced by brown curls--really, like Orphan Annie! You never know....

I'm the MS patient that posted yesterday. Yes we seem to have a lot of similarities altho different diseases. I too started posting in February 08 as a way to keep up with my support group. I'm only just now "outting" myself to others. With MS there seems to be an undercurrent of folks who want to keep the disease secret. I can't deal with some people knowing and others not. It gets too confusing. And it's not like I have a disease I'm EMBARRASSED about. Worried, yes, embarrassed no. --Colleen, formerly posted as annonymuos
