" I implore you, my child; observe heaven and earth, consider all that is in them, and acknowledge that God made them out of nothing (ex nihilo), and that mankind comes into being in the same way..." 2 Maccabees 7:28

What To Do...

What should I do about that bothersome photo of me on here? I don't look at all like that anymore. I think I keep it there because I feel better when I look at it, but it's also depressing and keeps me from moving on and accepting that that girl with the long hair is gone for awhile. I miss having long hair, I didn't properly appreciate it then. And now I still have a hard time relating to that stranger in the mirror with her ultra modern haircut and pale eyebrows. Who is she? Did she mean to cut her hair that short, or did she just sit up too tall in the barber chair? And although everyone tells me it is growing back fast, it seems so SLOW.

Shouldn't a brush with death have cured me of all this vanity? Apparently not.

What to do? ... Let John take a new profile pic of you. :)

I've got no problem with your profile photo. I'm guessing that's the look you'll return to when your hair grows out enough?

But for those of us who don't have the opportunity of seeing you in the flesh, photos of how you're doing, of how the hair is coming back in, of how your friends can still make you smile, would be most welcome. And if you want to update your profile pic, that's as good a place to do it as any.

While I do appreciate your physical beauty -- which transcends your hair! think of your eyes, your hands, your smile -- I think the beauty of your soul is greater still: your humility, your true care for others, your profound faithfulness to God's call. That's the difference between, "Huh, cute girl," and "Hey, that's someone I want to be lifelong friends with" ... or, more accurately, "There's someone I hope to see in heaven."

BTW, my beard has grown back enough to need trimming! I trimmed it this morning! Woot woot!

You are just as much the girl with long hair as you are the girl with short hair, just the girl we love.

Oh, just think how cute you are going to be in a few short weeks, when your hair is long enough to curl! Since you started out with curly hair, you may have REALLY curly hair for a while. Then again, it might be straight. Me, I love it when my hair comes in curly after chemo. I don't know that I am going to have the chance this time.

I guess it's hard to accept that we love you and not your curly cute hair. You could see hair as an accessory. Of course it's great but more of a bonus. It's not our core. Just like I was once skinny and now I'm well you can fill in the blank. Goodbye cute clothes. Weight, hair, wrinkle free skin, goodnight sleeps etc. All accessories . We love you with hair or without hair. Short or long hair. Straight or curly. It all comes down to this....We love you!

I thought you looked great in that photo that John took when your head was shaved and you had that red wall behind you. -Trinka

I fell in love with you sans hair, so I don't get what all the fuss is about.

The one thing that struck me the most about meeting you is that your beautiful heart and vulnerability is so apparent to the visible eye. You showcase it in a way that is so genuine. I love that about you. We all, especially you, shine because of the person we are on the inside. So as Trisha says, "everything else is just an accessory."

Love you!

Some of us don't get the pleasure of seeing you on a regular basis. I had to wait for Trisha's mom to come visit, and then see you on HER blog! Put up some new pics, WE MISS YOU!!!

I had a dream about you. Just a few months after finishing chemo, your hair was long enough to wear in two pigtails, and you looked just like you did when you were ten years old.
Love you no matter what you look like.
